North Korea caused some confusion about a missile’s capability by launching the rocket at an almost vertical trajectory. The missile hit an altitude of more than 2,000km and landed about 700km from where it was launched. With a lower angle trajectory, analysts believe it would have been able to travel 4,500km, reaching US bases in Japan or the Pacific territory of Guam.
